This interactive presentation will review the course reserves collection development practices from two institutions (one large public institution and one small/medium private institution) that were designed for the strategic purchase of textbooks/course readings designed to enhance student success and retention by targeting courses with higher instances of failure, drop, and withdrawal. Both institutions approached the development of these collection development practices in quite different ways, and both required very different funding models. The presentation will include live audience polling, open periods of group discussion regarding attendee practices, data from a survey of libraries providing textbooks, and question and answer opportunities.
